Nokia to build a Windows 7 Phone?

The rumor is flying all over the web. I saw it on my Twitter account from, posted at the Laptop Magazine Blog. Nokia is in talks with Microsoft about producing a Nokia smartphone powered Windows Phone 7. Everyone's source,  Eldar Murtazin, editor in chief of Moscow-based Mobile-Review.com (article linked to is not in English).

Laptop Magazine does not believe it. Some analyst. like Nicolas Kolakowski of eWeek thinks it makes sense. In an article we wrote last we, we think that that kind of move would make sense too. There have been no official confirmations from either company, but no denials either.

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop was the head of Microsoft Business Division until he took the top spot in Nokia. Nokia an Microsoft have collaborated before. Microsoft, is looking for every manufacturer willing to  build a Windows Phone 7 device. So from their standpoint, it is a no-brainer. From the side of Nokia, it is really a matter of whether they have a rabbit under their sleeve for either Symbian or Meego. If not, this move make a lot of sense in out books.

Nokia also has the kind of name, especially in Asia that could give MS a boost. MS has the deep pockets needed to make Windows Phone 7 work.
