The cheapest way to get a Samsung Galaxy Tab in the Philippines
I went over to Smart Communications today to check on my retention options. While I am not yet in the market for a tablet right now, if you if you are planning to get one now, getting one through a postpaid plan from Smart seems to be the best option.
I have seen the Samsung Galaxy Tab selling for Php34,900, and at that price it seems to be screaming, buy a Apple iPad instead. On the other hand, if you get one from Smart under a two year contract under Unlimited Data Plan Plan 2000, you get the Samsung Galaxy Tab for just Php4K. Adding that to the Php48,000 you will be paying over the next 2 years, that is a total of Php52,000 pesos.
Plan 2000 comes with 150 minutes of calls and 240 SMS to all networks, in addition to the unlimited internet access. Basically, if you are in the market for a data plan its like getting the Samsung Galaxy Tab at two years deferred payment, and paying Php750 per month for the unlimited internet, talk time and SMS. It is a pretty good deal.
January 20, 2011 update: Retail price for the Samsung Galaxy Tablet is now down to Php28,200.
